The Faculty of International Economic Relations and Management is very popular among school graduates from Belarus and from countries nearby. Its well-balanced and thoroughly designed teaching process, curriculum and courses delivered by highly-qualified academic staff add to the positive image of the University.

The Faculty of International Economic Relations and Management was created in 2006. Currently, there are 759 full-time course students and 2,400 correspondence course students at the faculty.

The academic staff of the faculty includes 56 teachers and experts in international economics and management who are at the cutting edge of academic research applying up-to-date methods, advanced techniques and the best practices of teaching. Foreign specialists take part in the teaching process as well.

 

The students’ research activity is supported by numerous scientific societies and study groups that unite students according to their professional interests: information technologies and law; monetary and credit policy of the Republic of Belarus; creativity in management; budgetary financing as one of the most important anti-crisis policies of the government, etc. Students clubs and interest groups are also united by creative activities: literature club, comedy club, volunteer group, dance group, faculty’s newspaper group, etc.

 

Faculty graduates who obtain comprehensive knowledge and competence in their professional areas are highly competitive in the labour market and are in great demand both in the Republic of Belarus and abroad. The faculty’s graduates are employed in major national companies, government agencies, ministries, trade union organizations and financial institutions. They deliver lectures at the institutions of higher education; they are at the head of large private corporations, enterprises and organizations; they are leading marketing specialists, managers, economists and accountants.

 The Law Faculty was established in 1994. Since that time it has graduated more than 2,500 specialists who are currently employed in state and private organizations as lawyers, attorneys and notaries, deliver lectures at the institutions of higher education, and work as officers at the national public prosecution bodies and law enforcement agencies.  Presently, there are 1,673 students enrolled in full-time and correspondence course programs at the Faculty.

 

The Law Faculty has three departments:

The teaching process at the Faculty is carried out by highly-qualified teachers and experts in jurisprudence and international law, the majority of whom have academic degrees of PhD and academic titles of professors and associate professors. Many of them have extensive international experience and have undertaken internships in international organizations and government agencies abroad.

 

In September 2009, the Resource Centre of International Humanitarian Law was opened at the University. The Centre is supported by the UN, International Committee of Red Cross and other authoritative international organizations.

 

The Law Faculty is the only faculty in the Republic of Belarus with the specialization in law which offers its students compulsory courses in two foreign languages and optional courses in other two languages. The foreign languages are: English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.

 

The Faculty maintains a close relationship with the most outstanding European educational institutions and research centres in the sphere of jurisprudence and international law. It provides the Law Faculty students with a good opportunity to expand their professional knowledge, master important practical skills, improve language skills and to participate in international conferences, seminars and other academic events, as well as take internships abroad.

 

Many of the Faculty students are also members of the international student research club “PRIMUM” which is administered and coordinated by the Department of International Affairs of the University. PRIMUM club members represent the institute at famous national and international contests and competitions, such as the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (the USA), the Telders International Law Moot Court Competition (the Netherlands), the Jean-Pictet Competition (Switzerland), the F.F. Martens International Humanitarian Law Competition (Russia), etc.

 

The Faculty is also famous for being the initiator and organizer of the International Law Competition “Youth for Peace” – the foremost annual student competition in international humanitarian law in East Europe which attracts and brings together student teams from around the world. In the previous five years the Competition has seen student teams from more then 30 countries around the world.

 

The Law Faculty has participated in the UN campaign “Stand against poverty” (Stand-Up), which was held as a worldwide event for a 24-hour period. As a result of the campaign, the faculty was listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Law Faculty students undertake compulsory pre-graduation internships in public agencies, enterprises, legal agencies and investigative authorities.

 

The students’ research activity is supported by numerous scientific societies and study groups that unite students according to their professional interests: history and theory of law; international public law; etc.

 

 

-        Faculty of Pre-university Training


Pre-university training is an essential part of the system of continuous integrated multi-level education of the Republic Belarus. Professional and efficient organization of the educational process at the Pre-university Faculty ensures:

o   Extensive and comprehensive knowledge about the entrance examination subjects

o   Successful overcoming of the psychological barrier and stress by the entrants during the centralized testing and admission process

o   Excellent performance at centralized testing based on a thorough and smooth preparation process

o   Creation of a positive image of the institute

 

Enrollment for the pre-university training courses is carried out during the whole year. The following formats for the training are available: evening courses, correspondence courses and weekend courses. The training includes preparation for the centralized testing and entrance procedure.

 

There are courses available for the individual preparation for the centralized testing which are designed for 10th and 11th year students of high schools and are held in groups of up to 5 students. The Faculty offers courses of spoken Russian for foreign students.

 

Special computer training which was designed to train attendants for the centralized testing is available at the pre-university courses. The Faculty staff constantly monitors the market of educational services, introduces the latest innovations and adopts the best practices to ensure a high quality of pre-university education at the university.

The Faculty of Social Partnership and Retraining of Specialists offers advanced training courses for those with higher education degrees and for the final-year students of Belarusian higher education institutions.

 

The Faculty carries out the following tasks:

   Personnel training and retraining

   Improvement of professional knowledge

   Improvement of practical business skills of top-level officials and specialists.

 

The Faculty retrains specialists with higher education and after their successful completion of the course awards new qualifications based on the following majors:

 

   Economics and Industrial Enterprise Management. Qualification: Economist / Manager (1 year 9 months)

   External Economic Activity Economics. Qualification: Economist (1 year 6 months)

   Human Resources Management. Qualification: Human Resources Manager (1 year 8 months)

   Economics in Tourism Industry. Qualification: Economist in tourism industry (1 year 6 months)

   Law. Qualification: Lawyer (1 year 9 months).

   Occupational Safety in the Sectors of the Non-Productive Sphere. Qualification: Occupational Safety Specialist (2 years)

   Logistics. Qualification: Logistician (1 year 6 months)

 

Efficient and smooth educational processes at the Faculty is ensured by the extensive academic experience of the Faculty’s staff, their original methodological techniques and practical skills, as well as by the substantial material and technical resources. The courses at the Faculty are delivered by the institute’s academic staff, highly-qualified specialists of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus and practitioners from other organizations and government agencies 



Centre for Professional Development and Training


The centre was established with the purpose of development of professional knowledge and improvement of practical business skills of trade unions’ personnel, as well as representatives of social partnership parties. The centre functions as a major educational and information centre within the system of training and retraining of the FTUB’s personnel which facilitates social partnership in the Republic of Belarus and interacts with different trade union structures and organizations on the issues discussed above.

 

The centre’s major functions are:

-        Providing educational, organizational, technical and information support to the organizations-members of the FTUB in the sphere of development of professional knowledge and improvement of practical business skills of trade union personnel;

-        Facilitating the integration of educational and industrial spheres;

-        Enhancing professional development in the sphere of health and occupational safety and ecological standards of production process;

-        Preparing and providing interested organizations and enterprises with the educational, methodological and information materials on the occupational safety and labour protection issues promoted by the International Labor Organization and UNDP.

 

About 2,000 people attend different courses offered at the centre each year. Attendants of the courses, who have successfully completed the training programme and passed the examination (no less than 36 hours in total), are awarded graduation certificates of government standard. In case of successful completion of the course of 24-30 hours, the attendants are awarded the MITSO graduation certificates.

 

To ensure a smooth and efficient educational process of high quality, the centre constantly updates its training programs based on the latest innovations and invites the FTUB’s specialists, top-level officials and specialists of government agencies, MITSO teachers and other leading educational institutions in Minsk to deliver lectures and seminars at the centre. More than 100 lecturers teach at the centre’s training courses.

 

Course attendants are provided with the information and methodological materials and guidelines prepared by the MITSO teachers (including Vitebsk and Gomel branches), specialists of the FTUB’s Council administrative divisions and trade union republican committees.

 

During the seminars held at the centre, different forms of active learning are used to ensure efficient and effective organization of the educational process and to provide the course attendants with maximum valuable professional experience and practical skills: psychological trainings, business and role plays, disputes, round-table discussions, outdoor activities, etc.
